It's a visual media, a majority of the viewers are males, the networks obviously select the most attractive young women for these sideline reporter jobs. This creates a competitive environment where they must present the most physically attractive presence possible to get the best jobs. When someone simply points out they are dressed rather provocatively it should not offend anyone.

The deeper question is where does the SJW line stop? Why is offensive to be compared to an adult sex industry worker? Who are the arbitrators of what is and is not offensive and what groups are protected and which ones are not?

At this point I think it's safe to say, it's not going to stop. There is no end game.

They've already gotten together at least once over at Mac's house. Parkins has a family to take care of. His shouldn't risk losing his job for a man who's career is over and a man who had like 12 lives during his career. Parkins was clearly torn when he gave a statement about Mac. His job wasn't to placate listeners who don't have any skin in the game.

No one said he had to fight the firing. But he didn't have to agree with it either. He "hated what Mac did". No he didn't. He may have hated that Mac intentionally stepped into a pile of shit, but he didn't say that, did he. Nope, he joined the offended and so now he loses the respect that he may have built up and will never again regain it.

His whole comment about the sideline reporter is interesting because it straddles both sides of a hypocritical argument.

My wife was on a work call on “International Women’s Day” recently and one topic was the word “slut” should no longer be used—women are empowered to sleep around as much as the want without being shamed.

As Beardown has pointed out, porn is a legitimate and perhaps even glamorous/lucrative career.

So why was Mac fired? If he said she looked like the host of the Oscars, that would be considered a compliment. But AVN, fired.

Either women are delicate and pure and need to be protected, or they are equals and can do whatever they want with their bodies. Where is the line drawn?

Depends on how they choose to be offended and white-knighted at the time .

Interesting, many of the more seasoned women in my family say the same thing, if a guy would have said anything that offended them the dude would have been slapped and cussed out, they apparently felt they did not need anyone to handle things. The younger women are also capable of telling guys to go to hell it's more the younger males that seem offended.

Many of the younger people have been sheltered, not exposed to the real world, they will learn eventually that there are many different ways people choose to get ahead in life, some people are genetically blessed and use their pleasing appearance to get ahead, seems foolish to shame those that simply validate the path they have taken.

Yesterday a texter asked Parkins and Spiegs how often they talk to Mac. Spiegs said the three of them just booked a round of golf for May. Sounds like they all still keep in touch.

Look, I am on record as saying I don’t believe Mac should have been fired over the comment. However, using a Beardown thought for support is immediately suspect & the idea that saying “you look like a porn star” can somehow be construed as a compliment because it can be considered glamorous is a real stretch. I referenced Beardown only because he has made this point prior so I wanted to give him credit.

Mac did NOT say she “looked like a porn star.” He said she looked like the host of a porn awards show. There is a difference, as comedians have hosted that show as well.

The larger point i was trying to make is that some want it both ways: there is no such thing as a slut or at least no shame in being one—but don’t allude to a women’s being a slut.

So if a woman can’t be a slut, they really shouldn’t be upset about associated with the porn industry, because there is no shame in being in porn.

Or perhaps you’re applying your personal moral values to Mac’s comment?

It has nothing to do with my moral values as I don’t think it was a big deal. My point was you seem to be twisting yourself in knots to defend his comments as not being offensive. It has nothing to do with equality or feminism or whatever else you want to bring into the discussion. His comment was meant as a humorous insult. Nothing more and (again) not a big deal. Why try to make it out as something more significant?
