I absolutely HATE these little 2 game series on the road when both games are played in less than 24 hours. Sometimes less than 18 hours.
I mean, u dont give anybody a chance to settle in to the series.
A fan drives a few hours to catch a game, and just like that it's over.
It's ridiculous.
At least make both games night games. This way a fan can drive there one day and enjoy the fuckin game at night.
to give you an idea, i have an uncle who absolutely loves going to live baseball games. in fact he had been working his way up past 100+/yr in his retirement (between milwaukee and the two ballparks in chicago) and had planned to see 162 live games in the year of our COVID 2020 before.... lol no.
for years prior to COVID-ball, quite possibly dating back to the mid 90s, almost every single game we ever went to he always wore his trusty shirt that said I AM A BASEBALL FAN with AM crossed out and WAS written on top of AM, and then under that it said "owners and players should try working a real job" -- when the original shirt got worn out to shit he went somewhere and had them make up a nearly identical shirt, except the 2nd time around the word WAS and the cross-out was embroidered in the shirt.
that's the kind of hardcore fan baseball doesn't think anything about when they make scheduling decisions. logistically i get it as the needs of the team > the needs of the fan, but i think it's still kind of poetic that the dude who sees the most games out of anyone i know wears that shirt by default at most of the games.
