ZZ is so fucking bad that it is embarrassment to Pat to even be in the same booth as him.
With any amount of planning, they probably could have had Wayne Randazzo before he took the same role with the Mets (and now is Howie Rose's partner and the lead when Howie is out).
If either Pat or Ron is missing from the radio booth, I won't listen. I will put on the other team's broadcast since I have a SiriusXM subscription. A couple of weeks ago, I enjoyed the Marlins radio guy, Glenn Geffner, who went to Medill and had spent a lot of time at Wrigley during his time there.
Same goes for TV - if Dempster is there, I'm watching the other team's broadcast on my MLB broadcast.
Pat is 67 and it is clear that after his health scare he is steadily cutting back a few more games each year. (He should skip the annual trip to DC because he hates the press box there above the upper deck.( Add in some games off for Coomer, and it's likely that the Cubs need someone better than Zack to do 45 full games a year pretty soon, and maybe fill in on Marquee here and there as well.
