Ducks unload Dustin Pancakes to the Crapitals for a 4th.
Ducks then send a 4th to Dallas for Stephane Robidas, who I was pretty sure was out for the year with a broken leg incurred in a Hawks game, but okay.
And then the Ducks send Viktor Fasth to Edmonton for this year's 3rd and another year's 5th.
I'm not sure how this makes them better.

So with Fasth and Scrivens set, the Oilers send Bryzgalov to the Wild for a 4th, which takes Halak off the board, one would think.

Panthers traded Mike Weaver to Montreal. Good third-pairing defenseman if you like small players, which Montreal does.

And of course, Brandon Pirri to Florida for a 3rd.

Ryan Kesler, Chris Stewart, and pretty much all the Carolina Hurricanes still on the board.

EDIT: Brodeur is said to be moving, but I can't think of where he'd go with Minnesota spoken for.

Hmmm wonder what it would take to get Kessler . Nice to see you think the Ducks can actually make a marginal move once in a while Curious.

Brodeur possibly making his last start in net (for now) for the Devils tonight. Talk of the Wild or Montreal trading for him.

Sabres looking to move Ehrhoff. But if they trade him and Erhoff retires before 2021 (the end of his current 10 year/$40 mil deal, relatively cheap, btw) Buffalo's still on the hook for his cap hit.

There's talk of Detroit going after Ehrhoff, but I think Ken Holland's too enamored of his young players to deal any of them to Buffalo for Ehrhoff.

Cap hit's $4 mil a season for Ehrhoff for the life of the deal. Apparently he's only owed $18 mil in actually salary over the remaining 7 years of his contract? Probably why there's concern he might retire before the end of it, very front-loaded deal: $22 mil in first 3 years / $18 mil for the last 7.

It would take too fucking much to get Kesler.

Antoine Vermette is a guy I've coveted, but we can't make his cap hit work, and the Coyotes never sell at deadlines. Maloney is a prick. Doesn't believe he should ever have to give anything up in a trade.

No. 1: a 20 to 25-year-old established National Hockey League centre, who could immediately step into the lineup and fill much of the void created by the loss of Kesler.

No. 2, a top-end prospect. Preferably a forward, but if it was a defenceman it would give the Canucks flexibility to trade one of their existing defenceman down the road.
And
No. 3, a first-round pick.

Gillis had one in Cody Hodgson. He's such a great GM.

But then they wouldn't have Zack Caveman!!

Also, Ottawa put Joe Corvo and Cory Conacher on waivers. Conacher surprises me, he came over in the Ben Bishop trade. They must be making room for someone.

Back to the Everglades whence he came. Wow. Wooooow. Looks like horseshit Florida is setting the stage for more dead cap space.

Hawks get defenseman project David Rundblad from Phoenix for a 2nd. He came to Phoenix in the Kyle Turris trade, after coming to Ottawa from St. Louis. Let's see!

I expect the Committed Indian to call for him to start in place of Seabrook.

Vancouver did OK relatively speaking? Markstrom was highly regarded at one time and Matthias appears to be a nice depth centerman. They're still liable for a pretty significant cap recapture penalty though right?

I believe so, yes. Matthias is a nice piece. Markstrom is hot buttered garbage. Got to where he is by being tall; has no positional awareness and poor reflexes. He's basically a human scarecrow.

Hurricanes extend Anton Khudobin for two years, keeping with the Hurricanes' tradition of sucking ass and then extending the players with whom they suck ass. They'd give Eric Staal another ten years every day if they could.

Yeah, this is what I'm talking about when I say not to make dumb moves that sacrifice our future. Trading Saad for Kesler is fucking asinine.

Martin St-Louis is traded to the Rangers for Ryan Callahan.

Tampa gets 15 1st; '14 2nd that becomes a 1st if NY gets to Conf Final. IF Callahan stays, NY gets our 2nd in '15 and tb get NY's 7th in '15

I like this trade for Tampa. St. Louis is definitely the better player but he got all pissy and disgruntled so nice get in a sticky situation.

Avs picked up a goalie from the Flames, Reto Berra? Wonder if he's related to Yogi

Red Wings gave up Jarnkrok and a 3rd or 2nd for Legwand. That surprises me. Jarnkrok is one of those names that's been bouncing around my hockey consciousness for seemingly years now, kind of like "Tomas Tatar."

With Zetterberg gone for the season and Datsyuk skating on one good leg, don't see the point in a team giving up a potential piece of their future core for a win now guy.

Legwand's from that area, but he's 33. But "It's a man's league" according to their GM Ken Holland. Gotta figure the Wings feel good about extending Legwand, as he's eligible for free agency after this season. Maybe a healthy Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Franzen and Legwand in 2014-2015 they can contend again.

Funny that both Zetterberg and Datsyuk played in the Olympics and now both are ailing.

Legwand never impressed me. Compiled points on mediocre Perds teams, never stood out as a heart-and-soul leader like fellow compilers Shane Doan or Rod Brind'Amour (though even Doan is just more a whiner than anything), has never had to shoulder accountability for the team perpetually coming up short because no one in Nashville shoulders accountability for anything. Just a real underwhelming lifer.

Don't like that. Nice size added to Minny. Wonder what the picks will be.

Ha, he acted like such a diva with a bunch of fans wanting this dude. When Edmonton gives up on a defenseman that's a sign.

Pitt trades away a 3rd '14, 3rd '15 and 5th '15. Last year they traded '13 2nd rounder and '14 2nd rounder for Douglas Murray . They at least got Calgary's '13 3rd in the Iginla trade. Shero really is an overrated GM.
