If that is true, then why would the league ever agree to pay them $500 million? I'm pretty sure these payments would go on for as long as the league exists.

There was a strong possibility the league was going to lose that lawsuit costing them hundreds of millions of dollars in backpay and future deals over the internet and international tv money.

Edit: Yeah it would go on forever, I wonder if they made this cause the family situation after they die?
