When we were on the market, fi the house was oil heat, we moved on, the problem is here 90% of the houses were converted from coal to oil back when it was amazingly cheap. Now, as it hovers around 3.00 a gallon - and the companies don't come out unless you are buy at least 100 - that's crazy.
Every winter there is at least one story on the news about a house that blew up b/c of an oil furnace doing something wrong. I'm just glad we are in a new section of Lake Wynonah, were none of the houses are oil heat.

Chus you'd appreciate... it's a 22 system, head pressure around 295, 2 to 4 degrees subcooling... I'm pretty sure theres other issues like minor noncondensibles and a possible liquid line or metering obstruction but when I just took the top off and ran the hose thru the condenser the head pressure dropped to around 195... still low on subcooling... 1.5 lbs or so added and I got around 10 subcooling at about 210 psi and suction line around 65 psi and 13 superheated.
Clean your condensers people.

I did a furnace and AC change out two years ago. Last summer, I get a call that the AC isn't working. They had just finished doing a ton of construction. His asshole carpenter just decided that he didn't need two of his returns, and blocked them off. He hadn't changed his filter in months, and the condenser coil was full of grass, leaves, and weeds. The pressure on the high side was through the roof.

But, when it wasn't working properly, his wife wants to blame me. This is why I have done any equipment jobs since. You need some duct work run, I'm your guy. You need a new furnace or AC, call somebody else, I don't need the headache.

Yeah man, rough. But me? I HATE tinning. Can't. Fucking. Stand. Tinning. I'm glad there's guys like you out there. Cause I hate tinning.

We should go into business together. You service the units (HEY HEY!), and I will do all of the metal work.

Get me a 6' brake, and a Pittsburgh machine, and I am good to go.

Well, tell ya what, when I do installs I'll call ya cause my metal guy is a bit quirky and I hate metal work. If you make the transitions and shit hell I always used cased coils so that's not too bad but if you do the metal work and some of the lifting I'll totally call you when I do installs. Hate tinning. Hate it.
I don't mind running gas lines or linesets or brazing or any of that stuff. But dang. I hate metal work.

I don't have a Pittsburgh machine, so making transitions is going to be difficult.

My buddy has a 6' brake that I can use anytime, if you need some plenums made. You won't even need any S-cleats. I bend them into the sides.

The tinner I use now does everything with a brake. No pittsburgh. Just a double flange and sheet metal screws.

Christ man. I mean, some are expensive... like a Carrier Infinity multi stage deal but that's an insane amount of money for a furnace if it doesn't make you coffee and give you a blow job.

I have friends & neighbors who have replaced their furnaces in homes about the same size & age as mine & all were around $10K.

No, but I should. My square footage is right on the cusp of 1 -vs- 2 furnaces. Most of the guys who have evaluated my HVAC situation have suggested 2 units. That is one of the things I am considering.

I don't know of any specific companies in your area that do good work, but you should be able to get a furnace, coil, condenser, line set, humidifier, and thermostat, for less than $10K.
