Also, you sound like my friend Larry Diaz (I actually have two friends named Larry Diaz, but one is 100% Mexican), whose mom is Irish and dad was Mexican. He pronounces his last name Die-ez. :lol:

No I played at Davis Square Park. And not everyone kept their sticks on the floor back then. Quite a few kids took swings right to the face and left the game of hockey forever.


As for my mom, and to bring this full circle hockey wise, she always claimed to have met Tony Esposito at Goldblatts on Ashland back in the 70's.

My mom and dad worked at a bank on Belmont & Clark in the 60s/70s. On Friday night the bank was open late and my dad being the executive he was (#fasttrack) had to stay late. My mom got off at the regular time around 4:00 p.m. She would go across the street to a bar/restaurant called The Cottage and hang out with her girlfriends from bookkeeping until my dad was finished. A lot of athletes hung out at The Cottage. In fact, I think the owner catering to them rather than worrying about his regular customers helped bring on the bar's demise.

Anyway, one Friday my mom was in there with her friends waiting for my old man to get done and this guy walks up to her and says, "Hi, I'm Eric Nesterenko." My mom replied, "Hi, I'm (Her Name)." The guy said again, "I'm Eric Nesterenko." My mom said, "Yeah, I know, you told me already and I'm married." She had no idea who Eric Nesterenko was. She loved telling that story.
