Seen the commercial for this over the weekend for $35, does anyone on the board have this, looks pretty cool.

I was just wondering too, if the games you play on your computer, if you could do it on your tv with this device.

Pretty sure this doesn't let you mirror whatever is on your PC to the TV, so I don't think the games would go to your TV. There are quite a few apps that it supports, and whatever you can do in Chrome can be projected to your TV.

I think nVidia Shield does this? Not entirely sure.

That sounds correct.

SO... you can't just use your HDMI output on your PC to your input on your TV?

I don't have one, but from what I understand the only games you can play on it are the ones you have running in your chrome browser which you can then share. It isn't currently a solution designed for mirroring your desktop on a television.

This is correct. But there may be soon (or already is) some 3rd party addins that may allow the rest of the screen to be shared too.

I'd probably just buy a 25 foot HDMI cable instead for $7.

HDMI is definitely better because I would be worried about a lag with the Chromecast.

I stream using PS3 media server somewhat often, for HD .mkv files and such.

No lag. Modern routers can move a ton of data quickly.
