Acquiring Cutler was the right thing to do at the time, 100 out of 100 times.

they had no problem blaming Jay Cutler who went through numerous OC changes, minimal receiver threats, only two years of greg olsen and never had an offensive line worth a damn.

There wasn't a Cutler cult, but there were plenty of us who thought he might end up in a wheelchair. Tom Brady would have thrown interceptions wondering if he didn't get rid of this oblong leather thing, somebody might snap his spine.

I'll never get the image of him riding a bike in the NFC Championship game out of my head or his bed wetting against the Packers in general. I like Justin Fields more than him.

To be fair, that reaction was pretty widespread amongst fans and local media alike. I remember Mully going on about how the Bears now have the best QB in the division. That was after Rodgers 2nd season as a starter.

I felt really good. The Bears made a bold move. Didn’t work out.

How about the reaction to the acquisition of Nas' guy Mack after his 1st game? (an unfortunate loss). Nothing but love for Pace!

I was at a conference in St Louis. What a first half.

The title game injury was legit, bro.

Sounds like you are on team Cutler. He’s one of my all-time favorite Bears as well. 8)

Then keep your ass in the locker room. I'm watching a shit backup leave it all on the field, and the franchise quarterback look as if he gave zero fucks.

Not necessarily. I think through watching high draft pick bad QBs like T.rubisky and Fields many have gone through like graduate school for QB watching. If Cutler came around now and played the same way, I'd probably say he's in the Geno Smith/Derek Carr tier. Back then, some were hoping he'd move up a tier or three due to his traits, just like the cult does with Fields. I wouldn't make that same error this time around - after about 25-30 starts, you are who you are.

I felt the same. The irony is now people in the cult were he’s just meh, QB1 was the best.

But it wasn’t. The Bears gave up a ton of draft capital out of desperation and out of town stupidness. Ooh, a young Pro-Bowl QB…wow, what good fortune! Denver must be out of their minds!

I too, like MANY others, was giddy. And at the time I could find only two people against it; a friend who said the same as you, that we gave up too much; and a work colleague who was (still is) a long time Broncos STH. He was glad to see him get shipped out. He gave me abuse for years over that deal. So I was glad he had to endure Russell Wilson.

These failures led us to C-Will. They were worth the pain and tears.

Would you feel better if he found his mom in the stands and cried?
