Mulligan stated this morning that the Sox know whats coming on the Northside and they knew they needed to do something to remain relevant. He stated, that while a rebuilding would have been OK with him, they could have been swept over by the tidal wave of Cub popularity if they took that route at this point.

Why would they need to "rebuild" when they have one of the best starters and one of the best positions players in the game in their prime? They also have a leadoff guy who can actually get on, and based on modern metrics, another starting pitcher who is among the top ten lefthanders in the game. Now they added the top reliever on the market, a good left-handed bat, and a pitcher most Cub fans thought was great until last July. Play Ball!
