while I'm sure Jerry is thrilled with his 2005 championship and the money he has made, he is a baseball fan. He is an owner...and yes, I'm sure it still eats at him that his team is and always will be the ugly step-child.
I don't believe a successful Cubs team directly impacts Jerry's day-to-day decisions, but I do believe it grays and erodes the line between "trying to win" and "financial bottom line".
Correct. And making a spending spree run before selling is a poor reason. Any prospective owner realizes what the attendance will be and they realize that they probably never see the lease dealJerry got.
While I am sure Jerry would be willing to listen to offers he isn't looking to sell in his lifetime. " Why would I, what else am I going to do?" His words...not my thought.
