From listening to Hendry today it sounds like he has some deals in place if he gets Fukodome and I would love to see one of them as Brian Roberts.

I am always weary about the Japanese players. If this guy is so good, why are only the Cubs and Royals in the bidding game? and why is he so low in contract compared to Jones, Hunter and even Rowand?

side note: Hendry does not look so crazy on the Soriano deal now?

If the White Sox are not involved in Brian Roberts discussions, I have lost all hope for KW. He really would be perfect for the Sox. Then you could afford to have Crisp in center batting at the bottom of the lineup.

That would look sweet having Crisp at 9, Roberts at 1 and Cabrera at 2. It is the type of lineup Ozzie has always pined for, and it is relatively inexpensive.

Fukudome is "cheap" because he is an unproven commodity.
Will he be Ichiro or will he be So Taguchi?
Who knows?
From what I've seen and read he takes pitches, works the count and sprays hits all over with decent power. What a concept ! When was the last time we had someone who fit that description?
He is also supposed to have speed, great defense and a tremendous arm.
I heard Jim Lefebvre say today that Fukudome could certainly handle centerfield at Wrigley.
I'd certainly take a chance on him.
Hope we get him!

15 million a year isn't to cheap to me, especially since he's a unknown.

I agree. You talk about a perfect player to fill a major need, Brian Roberts will fit in perfectly for the White Sox. With him and Cabrera atop the lineup, I'd actually be pretty confident with the White Sox being able to get on base for the Thome, Konerko, and Dye.
