I hate to be the prophet of doom, but the writing is on the wall.
1) They should have traded Schwarber for Miller. Nobody can hit off the guy and he's not a free agent for a couple more years. Schwarber is a DH and he tore up his knee because he's not meant to be an outfielder. It's pretty sad when a guy who hasn't played all season is hitting better than all of your regulars.
2) It is the Indians' year. Anybody could see based on how Miller and the other Indians pitchers won 7 out of 8 to get to the World Series.
3) As much as Maddon is praised as the great guru, Francona is clearly the better manager.
4) The Cubs are not who we thought they were. They were the great bum slayers of the regular season feasting on inferior divisional foes. They can't hit now that they don't get to play the Brewers, the Reds or Pirates.
5) The odds are stacked against the Cubs. They have to win 3 out of 4 games to win the World Series.
6) The Cubs have no small ball ability and cannot manufacture a run in a one-run game.
Reasons not to watch the game or go to the game.
1) As great as it is to watch them win, it also sucks to have to go to bed after 3 or 4 hour game where their hitters wet the bed. Can you imagine dropping a $1,000 on a ticket to watch them lose?
2) It's clearly the Indians' year. They steamrolled the American League and the pitchers look unhittable.
3) As Bernstein would say "variance" plays a factor in a short series.
4) The Cubs are likely not going to win this series without home field advantage.
5) The only thing the fans can hope for is that they win one more game, so they don't have watch the Indians celebrate a Wrigley Field.
All that effort, and just one huge pile of sheepfuck shit ... given the OP, how appropriate.
