For some reason you can't make a poll question in the cubs section.

Do they have the same, more or less wins?

I am assuming:
Jorr vote is same
Pasta I'm sure will vote more

I vote less.

Manager really doesnt matter who manages a team, because eventually their stuff will wear thin on the players and then he will be fired, so doesnt really matter.

In other new, you will eventually die, so no reason to go to work today

BTW, White Sox want more latin speaking managers in the dugout...pretty funny for a team that always prided themselves all their latin culture for the last 10 years

This would be ridiculed in baseball circles.

I don't vote. We have no way of knowing. That's my entire point. But if I were taking a guess, I'd say it would be +/- a game or two.

Well, 5-6 is largely considered to be the amount of games affected by a baseball manager. I see you know more about the topic than most here. But I don't buy that either. Maybe it would be 10 or 12 or even 20. Maybe 20 of the 25 players would have wanted to kill Renteria. But maybe they would have won the division with Ricky Raw Deal too. We just don't know and none of you can actually tell me what makes a good manager. It's just bullshit and good fodder for message boards.

There is absolutely no way this would have happened.

I don't think they would have won 97, but they still would likely be playing on Wednesday night if Theo's second original choice was still here.

What player that was on the 2014 Cubs roster hit 25 HR's this season?

Answer: Luis Valbuena hammered 25 for the Astro's.....It would have been nice to have him at 2nd this season but Fowler did an overall great job for the Cubs in CF.

Seriously, jimmy, you're not really lamenting about guys the Cubs don't have, are you? This is one of the best Cub teams in my lifetime- and yours.

Just this guy. He is the "Jim Osborne" of the Cubs. He get's let go right before they become great. After all those crap teams he was on where he was one of the better players (in 2014).

Osborne (a pretty good DT for the bears) retired in 1984.

Im not so sure about that though.

What about specific changes?

Like a pitching coach (Duncan, Cooper) elevating a pitcher from mediocre to dominant. That could mean +5-6 games right there.

Renteria still speaks Spanish so the results would have been excellent

Yeah, a lot of guys said that about Phil Jackson when he was winning the titles he amassed. Maddon had a couple rough seasons with Tampa his first 2 years. Then they slowly brought more talented players up through the system and he did a great job developing and managing young talent there and the team improved dramatically. He was the right guy for this job. He just didn't have to endure the bad years, because they had talent ready to ascend to the majors. I would say he was good for an additional 8-10 wins.
