Let's not get out over our skis yet here. That award is generally based on the team's performance as a whole. If the Sox go out and drop a turd on us in 06, then K-Smoove could be culpable for that as well.


That being said, I'll wait to see what the tail end of this deal brings. Although Garland is in a walk year, he's MUCH younger, even at Contreras' listed age, and will still make less money than Contreras. Neither's stock has ever been higher, but I think Garland has more of a prolonged good future. Contreras may be dominant this year and next, but after that, who knows how his body will be?

I was at the game Vasquez pitched vs the White Sox when he was with the Yanks in '04. My goodness, the guy was frighteningly good. Made the entire Sox lineup featuring pretty big bats at the time look like a bunch of amateur bozos. Bad chilly night, not only did the White Sox lose but there was also this chick sitting, well, standing most of the time, I should say, in front of me in a Yankee cap yelling "I love you Derek Jeter!" every time he came up to the plate or they took the field. Hot as hell black girl, pretty sure local.
