Jul 13 - Jim Molony, of MLB.com, reports the Chicago White Sox have recently scouted Pittsburgh Pirates RP Roberto Hernandez.

This is the 2nd time I've read something like this in the past month. Maybe this is who Tiny was referring to when he mentioned the Sox might be bringing back "an old friend".

God I hope not, the guy is 41 years old! I wasn't too impressed when he blew that save against us back in June.

Read something this morning regarding the Sox targeting Tom Gordon. I’d rather see that old friend. No offense, Roberto.

I'd be very happy with Flash. That would instantly turn the bullpen into championship level

Gordon would help, but that starting pitching is just awful right now. What happened to Buehrle? A 14 ERA in his last couple starts? Sound the air raid horn because this is not looking good. And the bad defense is inexcusable--they look like the Cubs out there. If this continues, forget about the World Series because the Sox won't even make the playoffs.

Buhrle goes through brutal stretches every year, although admitedly not this bad. I am a little concerned but I wouldn't sound any sirens yet. Even if they lose today they will still be 3 up on the Yanks for the wild card. As bad as Sox pitching has been, I'd take the Sox pitching over the Yanks pitching today if given the chance.

Everybody wants to make excuses for Buhrle. Even the broadcasters. When he sucks it's always "they got his signs" or "he's hurt" I just think he's in a stretch where he sucks but he'll get back on track.

Let's not forget about the bad stretch they had last year in August. Every team goes through it, and I'm pretty sure the Sox will get their act together soon enough. Getting swept by the Yankees isn't exactly unheard of.

Last year the Sox had a double-digit lead in the division when they began their nosedive. They're not so fortunate this year. And getting swept by the Yankees may not be unusual, but dropping three straight to their B-team isn't so great...

Don't forget the "he's bored" gem...

Buehrle got married this offseason. That’s probably the cause of his boredom.
