They better make a trade and get a 2 guard and/or a big man. Kurt Thomas' feet are anchored in cement. No wonder he's been glued to the bench. What a joke this game was. They are lucky to be in the Central division or they'd be toast without Noah.
I was at the game on Saturday night and here is what I noticed. Thomas was dreadful on the offensive end, but I thought he did an okay job on Griffin defensively. He was much better than the effort we saw from Taj and Asik (who were both pitiful). Griffin hardly did anything after the time that Kurt Thomas stepped on the floor. On the other hand, the things he did on the offensive end were just horriffic. He missed a couple of wide open looks from about 10 feet, which he has made a long career of making. You can't let that happen.
Kyle Korver was a complete non-factor in this game. I think he finished with only 3 points (1 of which came off a technical foul FT). He missed every wide open look he got. If you want to pin the blame on anyone for this loss, it should be on him. Taj, Asik, and Thomas were all pretty bad, but Korver's job is knock down shots, and he didn't do that all night.
If Taj is going to be out for a few games, I am not sure what this team should do. I was hoping on Saturday they would have tried putting James Johnson in to try and guard Blake Griffin, but he just seems to be in the doghouse with Thibs. It seems that the rare chances he gets to play significant minutes, he always does well, so I don't know he can't get on the floor. I think I would rather see him out there instead of Thomas and Scalabrine.
Those Rose FT's were crazy. I don't think I have ever heard the stadium be that quiet for a guy stepping to the line to make FT's. It's a shame he missed the 2nd, because it would have capped a major comeback. They were down 8 with 40 seconds left, and many people had already left because the game was over. Vinny got his revenge though...
