I'm uncomfortable with family life played out here behind peoples' backs on a public board. I wish it would stop but like everybody else, I read it. Because I'm a hypocrite.

I got the job of calling him to let them know last night.

His first words, "Hallelujah there is a God"

The guy was a true asshat. I have never met anyone quite like him.

I feel bad for his autistic son who has another obstacle put into his life.

You do realize your sister in law is probably moving in, right?

 Um yeah no way.

This is where his being a deadbeat helps her out. He has not worked a real job in years and she has carried them financially. So from that standpoint I doubt her world changes much.

Bad news RFDC. Obviously he and the family had some major issues, but him passing suddenly like this isn't likely to help anyone. Good luck to you and yours getting through it all.

I sure hope you are getting some of that sweet baseball card inheritance money!

I feel bad about it but I get aggravated when kids in their 20's call and bitch about getting raised car insurance bills after being really shitty drivers for the last 3 years.

I feel like this could be its own thread. Any good stories to share of the kids hot rodding?

What about people in their 50's and 60's who haven't had a ticket in 20 years and have never filed a homeowners insurance claim, yet get hit with significant rate increases? Yep, time to shop the policies.

Hi All. Haven't been around much.
Not that any have noticed...
But, wanted to let everyone know that my Dad passed away peacefully at 8:14 this morning. He had been struggling with heart failure for a few years and the last couple of weeks were the rapid decline. I know a few of you had met him over the years so thought I would share. He's at rest and with my brother.

It's a blessing the time you were able to share with him both as a professional and a son.

On a much more trivial note, last night my kid played in a baseball game that lasted 2.5 hours. League rules state that new innings aren't supposed to start after 1.75 hours, but the coaches have ignored this stipulation two out of the last three games. As I'm sure many of you know, it can be excruciating watching a bunch of 4th-graders play baseball if the pitchers aren't finding the strike zone. And that was the case last night on both sides. My son's coach, though, treats every game like it's the World Series, so the team often plays unnecessary extra innings. I've never seen a youth sports coach with such psychotic zeal, even in AAU basketball where the competition is ostensibly more "serious". I'm not sure what the point is of having such long games. Even the most competitive kids seem to zone out after a while. Some of the other parents do evidently enjoy these baseball marathons, though, and are cheering and jeering like complete whack jobs from beginning to end. Neither they nor my son's coach seem to realize or care that practice is much more valuable for player development at this age than games are. What an exercise in absurdity.
