apologies if this thread exists somewhere...I need to replace an old Toro (self-Propelled, Bag)...actually need to replace my son that moved out that used to mow the lawn (did not care one bit over how good the thing was, just get it done)...anyway, never considered an electric...recommendations for a self propelled model, and should I stick with gas?

We were in the same spot last year, replacing an old Toro that didn’t like starting without a full carb cleaning.

I was skeptical but went electric. Greenworks had a slightly wider deck (25”) on a big sale that I went with and it’s been great. Batteries haven’t been a huge issue; I couldn’t finish one mow early in the year when the grass was long, but otherwise never had an issue in a single mow. Easy to clean and easy to store. Self propelled and you can adjust the walking speed. It also has a “boost” feature that amp up the power if you’re working through some taller or thicker stuff.

Would recommend.

Without knowing your snow removal situation, if you are considering electric for lawnmowing you might want to consider a brand also strong with snowblowing should you ever decide to go electric there, too.

We are in a reverse situation; we bought an Ego snowblower which came with two enormous batteries. So if/when we need to replace one of our gas lawnmowers (we have two), we will first consider an Ego.

Consider converting your lawn to a meadow in order to sustain pollinators.
