Show was pretty bad last night, save for Weekend Update and the song about New Yorkers standing in lines for dumb viral food. Morgan Wallen was the musical guest, and, possibly out of frustration in not being able to say the n-word on live TV, made a big production out of walking off downstage at the end of the show.

I've realized who Marcello Hernandez is: he's the worst traits of Will Ferrell and Jimmy Fallon in one person.

That is an excellent description of him.

Ha, thanks. Yeah, it actually hit me when he was (or wasn't) doing his Marco Rubio impression, and just used his normal baritone speaking voice for a guy who famously sounds like a persnickety little bitch all the time. It reminded me of Ferrell at his laziest, when it was just supposed to be intrinsically funny that it was him, there, for us, doing things.

Jack Black was fantastic. I think everything they did hit. I've really liked Mike Myers as Elon Musk.

One thing I have noticed with this cast is that they seem to sandbag it when there's a host or musician they don't approve of. I think it's a Bowen Yang thing. Like, the energy was really bad with Morgan Wallen there, and wasn't much better for Shane Gillis, but when it was Lady Gaga or Timothee Chalamet, they were all locked in. There have always been duds for hosts, but I don't remember everyone being so pouty about it. Steve Forbes hosted once in '96 and the episode was really good.

that's their way of "protesting". they totally take for granted the generation of enabling and coddling we live in now. and plus, how bad is it that you have shane gillis? the cast that had to deal with steven seagal, now that took courage. and they didn't sandbag it.

Isn't Yang the one who protested Gillis' original hiring?
