story about the one cop who cares about the homeless people on the street in the kensington street district of philadelphia, while a serial killer targeting them is on the loose.

I don't hate this show even though I know it will sound like I do. The story idea is interesting. The acting is ok. The look and feel are spot on.

It's just so jam packed with "girl boss fighting the patriarchy" that sometimes a good story gets lost in the bull. It's obvious that it was written by an educated suburban white woman. Our hero comes from Kensington (very middle class Philly, that has trended downward) and she is supposed to have her care for the people based in true empathy. But no, this has to be a super girl, an Ivy League educated classical musician, who is descending from above to be a street cop. The author had to somehow make the hero in her own image, and it damages the credibility of the entire story. Almost all of the homeless characters are women (which bears no resemblance to reality) who are there because of something done to them rather than something they did (even though the beginning of the story explicitly discusses the importance of choices). And, of course, there isn't a single man in the show who isn't terrible in some way. Not one. Edit: there is one good man in the story but he is (yes, you guessed it) also an Ivy League educated person deigning to be a police officer.

Anyway, the idea of the story is good enough to push all of that to the side as best you can to enjoy it as it plays out.
