To be honest, I'm a little sick of people ripping on Salisbury for not being a good NFL quarterback. The guy managed to keep his NFL job for ten years. I don't give a shit if you are third string your entire life. ANyone that makes it to the NFL is in a league where the best of the best play. He had to work his ass off to get in the NFL and remain in the NFL even if it was as a backup for the most part. You have to give him his due for doing something I don't believe anyone else on this board has done or could have done.
With that said, I'm done with Berman. I really have no use for him.
With Salisbury, I still...and you know how critical I am of this guy....feel like he has the potential to be a good radio host. He simply has to get over himself. Again, I believe S&R has been a better show since may/june/july months. Am I saying Sean's a great host for this city and that I'm not pissed he eeps his home phone on during his show? No.
If this post was in reference to me, then I have to disagree. I never said it wasn't a great accomplishment to be even in the NFL. I didn't say he sucked as a QB, but I did say that the only real accomplishment he has is that he was a starting NFL QB. He isn't good on ESPN and he isn't good on the radio. Why is he given so much work by the folks in Bristol? I can understand a network pushing heavily guys like Steve Young
, Dan Marino, and Troy Aikman since they already are household names. Why is Salisbury pushed so hard though, especially here in Chicago, a place that he never played? I am sure we could find 10 QB's who were just as good as him and actually likes Chicago. He is arrogant and thinks because he played in the NFL he is an NFL expert.
I am not putting down his athletic accomplishments as I would love to have played even one season in the NFL but what did he do in his career to be given the oppourtunity to be a national commentator and have a radio show in the 3rd largest market in the country?
To make my point clear, I am saying he sucked in the NFL, but he sucks on ESPN and the radio, and I don't think his career was that amazing to be given so many oppourtunities.
