as nowadays dwindling ratings have made sports radio stations beholden to the teams themselves as a veritable form of "access media" (i.e. when a media outlet acts as a fluffer for entertainment corporations and/or sport teams with the hopes of getting "access" to their talent in order to prop up their own fledgling enterprise that has increasingly devolved into essentially blank webpages chock full of ads ads ads seeing as their readers/listeners have disappeared over the years so their only hope at staying afloat is MONETIZING. EVERYTHING. as much as possible so each declining # of views can generate as much income as possible (as lack of tangible traffic has made the idea of a "quality product" a flight of fancy
