Holding pattern out here with getting ready for field work. Figure roads get posted end of next weekend so that’s a good sign. Usually post Feb 1st.

Accuweather does look good second half of March. Next week is going to suck though.

I feel like we missed out on the build up a little but it was nice having Christmas waiting for us to stop the vacation ended blues.

Sex, putting the moves on a chick, Christmas, International Bird Migration Week, and the bottom half of any World Series any Chicago team has won in the past century....the build-up is the thing.

Still awesome.

The wife was excited to see a pair of orioles in our back yard recently. Flashy little buggers.

Little bit. I don’t get to see too many woodland/suburban birds but get to see plenty and f the prairie birds

Here we go :(

Fortunately, there is no super cold arctic blast or big snow on the horizon.

January is a good month. Playoffs, hockey, stuff.

February is stupid, but at least it's short, and pitchers and catchers report.

Aside from the birthdays or both my wife and myself I have little use for February. It is a good vacation time if you are old enough to be without kids. All the other people with kids have theirs in schools then.

We get a Feb 29th this year.

The rare Five Saturday February, which only happens about once every 30 years.

My kids are young enough that we've done the late February vacation to visit the in-laws in Florida. The weather is nice, and it's not too crowded yet. Pretty good time.

Let's put that extra day in June.

Without question the two worst months of the year and third place(August or March) isn't even close.

Cold.
Dreary.
Valentines Day.
Short days.
Only 3 good football weekends(Super Bowl is a decent night but a pretty bad football weekend).
Getting together tax stuff.
Ice.
You feel like it is your duty to improve yourself but deep down you know you won't.
Almost no more days off.

I should move to a place where I can avoid January and February.

Brick, all of this is outweighed by College basketball conference hoops.

Yup. Also, when we begin daylight savings and lose the hour, that should happen at Noon on a Monday.

When we gain the hour back, keep it in the middle of the night.

Why not just make February 30 days and shorten December and January to 30 days?

Where's this 28 day thing come from?

No, I'm not googling it.

Rather, February has 28 days because, to the Romans, the month was an afterthought. In the 8th century BCE, they used the Calendar of Romulus, a 10-month calendar that kicked the year off in March (with the spring equinox) and ended in December. January and February didn’t even exist

It's actually because the earth takes 365 and a quarter days to orbit around the sun. So every four years, we make up that quarter day with a leap year.

This helps explain Leap years...it has nothing to do with my question.
