That's what Texan players are saying, no joke. Maybe not mentioning Lovie by name but so far they're happy they won that game last year.

Stroud is a legit top 10 NFL QB right now.

He might be a top 5 QB, the Texans have zero skill players that are weapons.

Stroud is playing at an elite level week in and week out.

no no no, I thought young quarterbacks can only succeed if they have top level talent at wide receiver, O-line , in the backfield, etc.

You forgot to add he played at OSU.

So far, I have been wrong bigly about Stroud. Having watched a good chunk of both of them at OSU, I thought Fields had more tools and a better arm - not to mention his mobility.

Wrong, wrong, wrong…

You and me both. After seeing him play against Georgia, I was tempted to change my opinion, but I didn't. He's been great.

Can you imagine if they had traded Fields away and took Young? What a fucking disaster that would have been. They can now go ahead and draft the wrong QB this spring.

Stroud again takes the cake this week. Young has his best game probably but still is light years behind Stroud at this point. Richardson is more delicate than Tevin Jenkins.

Richardson looks like he has more superstar potential.

The trade down for Wright, Moore and the Carolina pick isn't looking so great any more given that the Texans apparently have an elite player at QB.

Wins ROY which was obvious but also finishes in top 7 or so in MVP voting. Amazing. But at least Poles chose H1M over Stroud.

Don't go overboard. The trade has been amazing for the Bears too. In fact, I don't think they'd go back and do anything different even knowing what Stroud did this year.

It's a good discussion:

Wright
Moore
Caleb Williams/No 1 pick
Second round pick (I think)
Dj Moore

Or

Stroud

Knowing that the players above won't matter if Williams\No 1 pick doesn't produce, I might lean toward the sure thing in Stroud. We could have a Jets situation (talented team but going nowhere because QB sucks).

Are you saying you would prefer Stroud over Moore, Wright, Stevenson, C-Will, and whatever you get with that 2025 2nd round pick?

The flaw in your logic is that there are a huge amount of players that looked like future stars in year 1 that didn't pan out. It's not like Stroud is destined for the HOF like Jordan Love is.

It’s not an outrageous argument if Stroud has a long career as a top QB.

It’s essentially:

How many great QBs are on bad teams?

v.

How many teams have a ton of talent but don’t win because the QB sucks?

Unless Stroud enters the GOAT conversation and every pick is a bust, I strongly disagree. Even if C-Will ends up being Dak Cousins, it's a better deal for the Bears.

For sure, but if we’re doing a Bernstein “THE GOAL IS TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS” bit, you have to take a swing on the QB.

Shots not taken are shots missed. I don’t blame Poles for passing on Stroud, similar to how I didn’t blame Pace for not taking Mahomes…but in 15 years I might.

If Williams is a bust then that it the only way it really becomes a discussion.

It's like saying Brian Urlacher was a bad draft pick because they passed on Tom Brady to draft him.

Urlacher is whoever the draft at #1.

The Bears will have always "passed" on Stroud for whoever they pick at #1. My argument is that as long as #1 ends up a good pick then it doesn't make it a bad trade that they passed on someone even if they end up the better player.

Of course, the Urlacher-Brady one is extreme given it's unlikely that either Stroud or Williams end up in the HOF but it's also yet another amazing point.
