He'll be back before then. This will likely shorten his career but it shouldn't restrict his effectiveness for the foreseeable future.

this sucks. Him and Lonzo looked like they were developing a really nice chemistry. I was thinking Lonzo would pick up 3-4 assists per game just from setting up Zion.

A meniscus tear isn't a big deal. It may even be a blessing in disguise where the kid starts treating his body the way he should

Wasn’t the joke that Rose didn’t need to shut it down for the season when he tore the meniscus?

A meniscus tear with a rebuilt ACL is a different story. IIRC, Westbrook doesn't have a meniscus anymore. There's only so much cleanup you can do and then it's essentially gone. Bone on bone. Padding is all it is.

I assume this is Zion's very first cleanup.

If he loses too much weight then there goes the uniqueness of his game.

I thought it happened after he took the entire first year off to fix the ACL?

Having just gone through a ACL rebuild and meniscus tear.....it's a 6 months of recovery to be cleared to play sports. I was running again at just under 4 months. I"m nowhere near event amateur athlete status, but I can tell you....the rehab work is NOT automatic. You have to work the rehab and do it with discomfort and feeling much less than 100%.

A meniscus scope is nothing more than trimming the tear....cut remove...done. So yes....there is only so much they can clean up before it's gone.

All I'm saying is the accounts of Zion's demise are grossly exaggerated.

Anybody who loves basketball certainly is hoping this is just a blip. I was and am really looking forward to watching him develop his unique talent of being a gazelle in a godzilla body.

I don't have a meniscus in my right knee. I blame playing sports after 35. I played Y league in the winters and hardball in the summer. I also have a non-fixable torn rotator cuff.

Shredding your ACL is not that uncommon....doesn't require a fight with a bus.

I actually thought that were contenders for the playoffs with him fully healthy. They have an intriguing roster Lonzo notwithstanding.

Usually 8 weeks is the time frame but I'm sure they will be overly cautious.

I was hooping 3-4 weeks after a meniscus cleanup.

He has taken the ROY not the MVP. The MVP is up for grabs still. Just like Steph will have to Cary the load this year so will JJ with Zion out. Sure he is old and white and can’t create his own shot but I can’t see why he won’t win it. He is also coming off the bench so it will be remarkable moment in history.

Looking like Thursday vs the Jazz for his debut. He won't be starting and he'll be on a heavy minutes restriction. Pretty ridiculous considering how minor his surgery was, but this is the world we live in now.

I don’t know why they are playing him at all. Should go full tank.

That's stupid. They're too good a team to tank as evidenced by how they've been playing the last 1.5 months. Also, there is benefit to having a young player actually play. This guy missed games at Duke, missed summer league, missed pre-season. At some point you gotta actually play basketball to get good at it.
