Atlanta will start to fall. maybe they make the play-offs but the second half of the season wont be nearly as good as the first half for Atlanta. I say this because veteran teams tend to pick up their momentum in the second half of the season. the first half they come in and are hardly ever in as good a shape as the younger teams.
They are average on offense and bad on defense. They are currently 11th in the east (actually they're only tied for 11th)! I doubt they improve much as the season goes on and they are already bad.

The Bulls and Heat are 2 of the 3 teams still below them. I bet both teams pass them up. The Knicks are probably the worst team in the east right now but atlanta will give them a run for their money by the end of the season.
My intention was to take the wheels off the bandwagon (or at least steal one of the horses).
edit:i'll give them a little credit. law was injured vs mil and sea. smith was injured at sea.
I'm still on, but I've said it many times - they are young, and don't have a point guard yet which is going to lead to a lot of bad shots....Defensively, I think they can't wait to get back on offense.
Yeah, I mean they don't have a lot of PG play as it is, and last night they were without Law, Stoudemire AND Lue...They had to go with Anthony Johnson a lot (ugh) and Mario West. That's going to hurt you. Plus they're playing one of the best teams in the league. It's hard to be that disappointed about getting beat by the Spurs....The Sonics game though hurt. But what are you going to do, that was an incredible shot by Durant, you have to just give him credit for that. It wasn't like they let him waltz in and dunk it, he heaved a long 3 and it went in in double OT. I guess you could argue they shouldn't be going to double OT against a team like the Sonics and that's fair I suppose.
And as far as your defensive comment BD, I kind of agree- to me, a lot of times it looks like they're just going for the block, that they allow entry passes to easy and allow penetration because they're going to contest it. Obviously Smith is a great shot blocker but too many times you're going to get beat or get called for a foul.
I still have faith they'll turn it around. I read some Bill Simmons column the other day in which he suggests they try and trade for Andre Miller, makes a lot of sense to me. Probably wouldn't break the bank to get him, and what use to the rebuilding Sixers have for an aging PG? It would be a tremendous upgrade.
