The whole Derrick Rose talk in the postgame following the Bulls/Celtics' clunker last night.

Why would there be talk about Carmelo Anthony in the postgame following the Bulls/Celtics game?

TP, two different stories. Lost in the shuffle is that Joakim Noah is playing in the All-Star Game, but Carmelo Anthony might not.

The Thunder did make it interesting in the 2nd half, but they weren't running any kind of successful offense down the stretch. Their free throw shooting and Durant getting hot kept it under 15, but they just didn't play any kind of defense to get enough stops to win the game. Some of the LeBron dunks were way too easy. I also hate watching Shane Battier swish 3 pointers. I think after trading Harden OKC may not beat the Spurs if they face them in the playoffs this year. Kevin Martin is not as good as James Harden and Westbrook is not a consistent point guard.

Wonderful tweets by Dan on the Thunder/Heat game: Miamis D feast on stagnant offenses and passing the ball creates space....geesh

Right now, Bulls' head coach Tom Thibodeau & Hawks' head coach Larry Drew are having nightmares. The Heat head to Atlanta Wednesday & Chicago next Thursday, and LeBron James is playing unbelieveable basketball right now. I can't imagine who the Hawks & Bulls are planning to assign to guard James next week after the NBA All-Star Break.

I don't think Thibodeau thinks more than one game ahead in the schedule.

Shark, LeBron's recent run was against Toronto, Charlotte, Houston, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, Portland and Oklahoma City. How many of these teams play any kind of defense? With the exception of the Clippers and OKC all of these teams give up an average of 100 points a game.

Hope Walt is watching the Lakers game right now. JVG was just explaining how poorly Dwight was setting picks earlier this season. Leaving them early and things like that. Interesting.

They'll wear them again two more times, guys. The Warriors will sport those gold unis with sleeves vs. the Rockets March 8th & against the Bulls March 15th.

I wonder if the Warriors & Pacers will be shorthanded as a result of that fracas. The Warriors are in New York tonight to start an NBA/ESPN twinbill that concludes with Denver/Portland starting @ 7P. The Pacers host the Clippers tomorrow night in Indianapolis.

I think the Doug Collins "I quit" watch is now underway.

Quote:
Doug Collins questions Sixers' effort

Philadelphia 76ers coach Doug Collins was highly critical of his team's effort Tuesday and openly questioned his players' preparation following a loss to the lowly Orlando Magic.

"I sure didn't see this effort coming," Collins said to open his extremely candid postgame news conference. "I thought we played incredibly hard against Miami. I thought we played incredibly hard in New York on Sunday. And this is mind-numbing to me. We went up 29-20, and from that point on, I couldn't even tell you what occurred."

The Sixers struggled mightily down the stretch in Tuesday's 98-84 loss, their sixth consecutive defeat. A trendy preseason pick to contend for the Atlantic Division title, Philadelphia (22-33) fell a season-high 11 games below .500.

"I'm disappointed, I really am," he said. "There was so much this season that we were looking forward to. But it just seems like every time we turn around, it's been something else."

Philadelphia has lost all four of its games since the All-Star break, but Collins would not comment on whether or not his players had become "comfortable" losing.

"I told you, I did not think our guys prepared themselves during the break to come back to play," he said.

Collins also acknowledged reaching out to his players in an attempt to "be a better leader." But the 61-year-old Collins also emphasized that his players need to commit to improvement.

"Sometimes you've got to help yourself," he said. "Youth is a very blaming thing. ... I usually go to them. And after a while, the talk gets old. It just does -- at some point in time, you've just got to play.

"They say it's a players' league. Well then take ownership. That's all I'm asking -- take ownership of what you're putting out there."

Collins cited Andrew Bynum's health on several occasions during his 11-minute conference. But Collins did not use Bynum's season-long absence as a reason for his team's lack of preparation or effort.

"We are a team that the least, little change affects us," he said. "All of the sudden the starting lineup changes again -- we have guys that don't deal well with that. We're not a team that rolls with it that easily.

"I don't want you to feel like I'm up here blaming. I don't want you to think I'm making excuses. That's not what this is about. ... I'm a guy who when I have coached, I've always been able to find some answers. And I have not been able to find answers, and from my standpoint that is very disappointing, because I'm paid to do that."

A four-time All-Star during his eight-year career as a guard for the Sixers, Collins has compiled a 98-105 record in his two-plus seasons as Philadelphia's coach.

"I wish I knew [why we're struggling]," Collins said. "I really do. I'm sitting there -- I gave my body to this franchise. I was never booed as a player, never. I ran through my sneakers. ... There cannot be a game where you just go out and don't put your heart and soul into the game. We had an off-day, we've been on the All-Star break -- there's no reason for that, none."

Well, I've gotta think Turner Sports still has a seat available for Doug Collins if he can't take it anymore in Philadelphia. At least he was comfortable as a color analyst...

Lost in that shuffle was another BIG game for Carmelo Anthony. #7 in Knicks' white, blue & orange had 35 points last night. As for Golden State, would you believe Carl Landry was second in scoring last night in the game where Steph Curry had 54 at MSG? Landry had 15 off the bench for the Warriors...off the bench.

Yes. However, a Mavericks' jersey with Eddy's #52 is displayed in "The Dan Patrick Show" studio in Milford, CT. Don't ask me why.

I still think it's kind of lame that they count those stupid tap outs as rebounds. Usually when one player scores 50 points it means the other teammates weren't doing enough. Golden State does not play very good defense and they obviously weren't getting to enough rebounds either. The starting lineup for the Warriors had Curry's 54 points and the other 4 guys combining for 13 points. The Warriors just don't enough big guys to rebound properly without Lee in the lineup.

Mini, keep in mind also that David Lee was suspended by the NBA for last night's Knicks' game for his involvement in the fracas with the Pacers' Roy Hibbert Tuesday night. The Warriors really missed Lee's points & rebounds, that's for sure.

Even with Lee the Warriors are still weak at center. The Warriors can score a lot, but the best teams all shut down their opponents with their defense.
