yeah i wonder about this too. keep in mind that both twitter and facebook do the exact same thing (geolocation) it's just a mere formality if you turn the "feature" on for the general public to see. this one dude i went to highschool with is now some douchey ed-hardy-branded DJ and he was all about that foursquare shit, even going as far as to check in at home for the night (and thus showing everyone where he lived and etc etc)
it's goofy. digital exhibitionism at its finest, and basically people flaunting and boasting the fact that in today's world the once-dreaded technological "big brother is watching you" is seen as a form of vanity and status. brilliant marketing, eh?
