Once Bill Burr started to get roles in movies he changed. Cuz you gotta change to be a part of Hollywood. So he did. For the money.

there are very few comedians who are funny throughout their careers, kind of like music groups. Most of the good ones have a 5 or so year hot streak and then live on reputation.

I do not that Burr's take on Luigi is awfully hypocritical for a guy charging hundreds of dollars for a seat at a one hour show

I listened to siamese dream through on a trip recently and the kids and wife all listen to whatever on their earbuds usually most of the time. my 18 year old (who doesn't like rock music at all) was apparently just sitting back there and goes, "i have no idea why this band was successful or your favorite. the music is very melodic and nice even the hard parts are kind of soothing but his voice is..*clapping hands*..the *clapping hands*...worst...*clapping hands* I've ever heard IN MY LIFE"

So we listened to MCATIS next.

She's not wrong. Gish, vocally, wasn't as cringe and whiny as the later work. There's great music with old Billy, but as the years go by, the vocals really grate my skin more.

I totally acknowledge his voice is a thing. back as a 13 year old I saw Today on MTV and loved it. My buddy made me a tape with SD on one side and on the other side was Radiohead Pablo Honey. I was hooked on whiney head singers I guess. I bought SD and Gish at the same time and listened to them non stop. I love MCATIS too and I enjoy probably 60-70% of that album. But Adore was kind of the end for me. and everything subsquently after that was meh.

Corgan was on on Rogan today and I listened to a bit of it. Not super interesting.

I've always assumed the Smashing Pumpkins love was just based on their connection to Chicago. In terms of bands who I still listen to, I would have to put them behind: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden.

I remember finding Gish for the first time, loving it, and being very excited for Siamese Dream and being mildly disappointed, and then being hopeful for Mellon Collie and being VERY disappointed. And each subsequent release following the same trend. Mellon Collie might be the most bloated 2-disc release ever, so much trash for a couple decent songs.
