No matter who has been in charge of moderating the Board- bigfan, Seacrest, Brick, me, it doesn't matter- there have always been malcontents who complain about the way it's done. Sometimes it leads to the creation of new boards (Curious Hair is not invited!) or a diaspora to Reddit and Secret Facebook Chats.

I think there still must be some expectation that a board this small and conducive to in-person meetups should have no oversight at all, as if it's a bar that we can lock up for the night ourselves on our way out.

There are some fine lines and it's not easy. That's why we decided to add a bunch of guys we thought would be reasonable to do it. Unfortunately, that resulted in Furious Styles leaving the board. I just didn't think- and I believe Brick agreed with me- that Caller Bob had done anything to deserve a banning. I have to tip my cap to KDdidit. He and I disagree about plenty of stuff, but I'd trust him more than most people I know.

You saw what happened when IMU had moderator power for a minute. He immediately abused it because you were "too negative" as the Cubs were attempting to blow the World Series.

I believe it is all of the political bullshit, there was none of that when I first came on and since it has been instituted is when all of this other has happened.

I get that. And I agree. But my thought is that you can't just bounce every guy who says shit you don't like. I still question myself about killing Baby Mac. But my patience there was long and he followed me around the board like an asshole as well as pissing off MANY others. I would have even continued to put up with that save for the fact that I saw him posting in the Facebook Chat and he was completely well-mannered and not an asshole at all. So why is he acting like a douche on the board I'm running while showing respect to Mark Zuckerberg? And if Caller Bob had done to Furious what Baby did to me, I would have supported banning him.

The opposition to people such as Bernstein and Dicaro had very little to do with their views on sports. It had to do with their views on politics, culture and society as a whole.

I would argue it has more to do with them being assholes.

A board that was based on local sports teams that suck and also on AM radio has diminished in popularity right along with its two biggest draws.

As evidenced by the Bernstein firing, they will come back if there is something to discuss.

That's a reasonable take. And yes, some of us have persecution complexes.

If it is true that people need an excuse to leave the board, they create one by blaming someone. It possibly suggests they feel guilty for leaving (because they think they are leaving their friends on a sinking ship or because they feel the often intense connections here). They may also be trying to burn the bridge in order to ensure they don't come back (due to the time commitment or something.)

Having said that, I'd like the following three banned:

--Degenerate Dave
--Drunk Squirrel

Nah if they were to begin expressing Right Wing views then they would become a hero to MANY overnight.
