Right. They have to keep Amegadjie this year because they are going to be cutting their 2023 third-round pick, Zach Pickens, in training camp. Amegadjie won't get cut until training camp in 2026. Velus Jones, Pickens, and Amegadjie--that's quite a run of third-round selections by Poles! :(

I am not arguing he is going to be good or a useful player, but there is no way he is getting cut this year.

Right, because they are the Bears and under Ryan Poles the mantra has been to keep shitty players way way way past their expiration. Even guys like Nate Davis and Chase Claypool who deliberately go out of their way to humiliate the organization get an extra twelve or so months.

An acquiescent Yalie who’s just treating the NFL as a resume padding exercise so he can really stand out on LinkedIn? He will be here as long as he wants to be. That’s unless Ben Johnson is who everyone claims he is and doesn’t tolerate this bullshit. I’m not holding my breath that anothing has actually changed after another offseason where the Bears spent all their resources on fucking pass catchers again.

That Tal Midget's dementia is worse than I thought. He thinks you are NAS, Spmack and Doug - Evergreen Park.

It's a little thing but I like that they drafted a guy with no fumbles and another guy with no penalties.

On the other hand, they did draft a guy who like personal fouls more than Tyrique

I'm not going to lie and say I knew a lot about Trapilo before Friday. He seems to have LT skills but a need to get stronger. BC is one of those places that I think does a good job of producing OL, like Wisconsin. I just trust OL coming from the school to have competency.

Brandon Thorn, who is widely respected for his evaluations of offensive line prospects, likes Trapilo a lot. Thorn gave Trapilo a high third-round grade, but the Bears probably had to take him towards the end of the second round given the way things were falling. He seems like a very good pass blocker and plays with some nastiness on run plays. He seems like a good pick.

I have seen this evaluation as well, which seems like a description of a LT, but people in HH are talking about the disruptive move of changing Wright to LT and having Trapilo at RT. Maybe that is just because Jones won't be ready for practices next week and they want to test how it looks.

Again, Darnell Wrong is barely hacking it as a RT, him at LT would be laughable.

If the plan is to put a thirty two year old with an extra season-and-a-half worth of city miles on his frame at left tackle they are cruising for an all time bruising.

You keep saying that and the metrics keep indicating you are incorrect.

I am perfectly happy being strong up the middle even if it means we are a little weak on the edges. Our G-C-G combo should be sacred.

The same kind of goes for RT. Keep Wright where he is. Almost every team has a weak point on the line. If ours is going to be LT, so be it as long as we are good at the other four spots. We can put trust in our coach to know how to paper over one weak point.

And the eye tests constantly show him being abused by speed rushers (when he's not hurt)

He's much better at G for sure.

They have a back up plan if needed.

I completely agree with your points, especially regarding the priority to maintain strength across the interior.

At this stage of his career, Williams seems to handle pressure off the edge much better than he does pressure up the middle. Keeping a strong IOL is key.

I don’t think he will play left tackle for the Bears, ever.
