David Carr recently said on the NFL Network that the biggest problem with the Bears' offense is the coaching staff.

He said that Flus was uninformed when it comes to quarterback development and that Getsy doesn't understand how to coach a guy with Fields' ability.

Imagine being so good at something that nobody can coach you to make you actually good at that thing.

It's possible that Flus, Getsy and Fields are all bad.

Given the Bears history, this is probably the most likely scenario.

if this thing crashes and burns I can certainly tell you which one of the three will be virtually blameless though.

This is the part of the Bears’ rebuild I don’t understand more than the rest. They hire a defensive minded coach and allocate most of their resources to offense. If the offense succeeds, you’re likely to lose whichever coach made it succeed to a better job elsewhere. Rinse & repeat.

I’m fine with building around Fields if Poles thinks he’s the guy, I just have a very hard time understanding why they felt Flus was the right person for that specific project.

Very true. But I dont think Carr has much insight into whether they are good or bad.

Well, Flus is awfully puffy-chested for a guy whose offensive knowledge comes, as he himself has described, from "talking to Phillip Rivers a lot" about offensive football.

Getsy didn't do much to impress me as a play-caller last year, but he had little to work with.

He did have the best running offense in the league

Is anyone feeling good right now about this season? The offense is struggling against the second unit, which is pretty damning. The amount of negativity from Bears reporting is pretty high. Right now I'm not feeling more than 5-6 wins this year.

I’m slightly optimistic they can contend for a WC.

Bears points , week 9 on. 31,34,24,10,19,20,13,10,13. They had a nice spurt midseason. The rest was terrible.

I think the offense has enough talent to be good. On paper, this is probably the best receiving group the organization has had. I think the back 7 of the defense is good.

Opposing defenses seemed happy to let the Bears run on second and third and long situations.

Better than Marshall and Jeffrey?

Yeah, I think the trio of Moore and a healthy Claypool and Mooney would be better than them. I'm not sure if you can count on Claypool and Mooney to be healthy though. Tyler Scott could be an X factor.

Yeah, they had a few high-scoring games because they caught their opponents off guard. Once opposing teams understood what the Bears were trying to do, they handled them rather easily.

Getsy didn't even try to develop Fields as a passer last year. This is certainly an indictment of Fields, but it's also an indictment of Getsy.

Maybe I need to read less X, but it's scary to read several times, "this is just like last training camp" from an offensive perspective. I'd agree, defense should be better; though, there were a few flashes last year outside the line.

I must be reading different reporters because all I see is sunshine and puppy dogs from the offense.

I tried telling you all this when they signed him...

His presence in the middle of the field should radically change the passing games of the Packers and Lions.

They desperately need pass rushers and he was probably the best one out there. Plus if they suck they can probably trade him to the eagles for a 4th rounder.
