Robert Irsay built much of his wealth from an HVAC company he founded in 1951 and operated for twenty years; after selling it he purchased the Baltimore Colts in 1972. Despite the team existing in a different state, a good portion of its offices was located at this nondescript office on Lincoln Avenue in Skokie. Instead of packing up and leaving, Irsay brought much of his work to a more convenient location in Skokie. Indianapolis Colts, Inc. and Baltimore Football, Inc. were both registered in Skokie.
