Ok

How bout a specialty long range shooter type?

What?

"Specialty Long Range Shooter?" Bryan, what in blue blazes have you been smoking? NBA 3pt line distance and she would have to actually get open.

It's unlikely she would be strong enough to shoot the ball from that far out. Maybe if they moved the line in a little it would give her a chance.

She'd have to be significantly better than Jordan Hulls, who likely won't play any meaningful NBA basketball.

She knows she can't hang though. That's why she played for the Baylor women's team and not the men's team.

Im not talking about Griner.

Im saying that IF a woman could make it, that might be the best/only way.

I don't think anyone is saying she shouldn't be given a shot. What's being said is that if she did indeed try, her chances for success will likely be very limited for reasons beyond her control.

It doesn't bother me at all if she is given a shot. In fact, i almost hope she does. I'm just pretty sure she wouldn't be able to play physically with 4's and 5's. I'd be happy to admit I was wrong if it turns out she actually can play at an NBA level.

This thread reminded me of Manon Rhéaume. Had a chance to be an NHL goalie, even played in an NHL game (exhibition game but against NHLers nevertheless).
Was given a chance. Ultimately, could not compete against men physically.

The thing about Danica Patrick is a little different. She's not really competing physically against men.

That's just about the weakest argument I've heard. She know she couldn't hang because no one would allow her to play with men? Now that I think about it you are right. There is no way a woman could ever be good enough to make a D-1 squad. They probably move the rims down to 9' for these sorry women.

I don't gather anyone being against her getting a shot at all. I just don't think anyone realistically expects her to be able to compete.

"Allow her"? Do you really think that Baylor, where she was absolutely loved, would have rejected a future NBA player from the team because she's a woman?

If she really had NBA potential she'd have been on the men's team and the men's team would have been happy to win more games.

More than likely though, it was clear in the pickup games that she needed to stay on the women's team.

Conventional wisdom is that giving Griner a chance to play in the NBA would be no big deal. If it doesn't work out - no harm, no foul. However, there is a chance that, should she fail colossally, it could kill off the WNBA and hurt women's basketball overall.

If the greatest women's player ever (some say) gets destroyed by some NBA summer league no-names, it could show just how far back the women's game is.

So it is your belief that she does not have the talent to play on any men's D-1 basketball team?

The woman hater thing is funny. I guess I hate IMU also because I don't believe he could play in the NBA either. Should still get a shot though...

If IMU or Rick had dominated college basketball like she has and executives and people in the media were talking about them having a chance to get drafted and making an NBA roster then I would agree. Since they aren't it is probably best to come up with another argument to disguise why so many men are afraid of women being better than they are.

I'm not afraid of anything in regards to this topic. I freely admit Brittany Griner is way better than I am at basketball. That doesn't make me feel less manly at all, but it also doesn't mean a damn thing in regards to her being an NBA caliber player. But once again, I do hope that she gets a shot so we can avoid these silly little PR events in the future. And like I said, if she succeeds ill admit I was completely wrong about her every time it's brought up.
