Quintana going today. Sale, Noesi the next couple days. Too hungover/uninterested to look for the lineup. Sox will sweep.

I know. It'll take more than 3 to win this probably.

I think the Ump has a bbq to get to. Those last two called third strike calls were awful.

Maybe Beckham won't suck this year after all. That'd be a pleasant surprise.

Hawk said Beckham went to the official scorer after a game and told him he made an error on a play when it was ruled a hit. The scorer changed it and saved the starter 3 earned runs. I bet it was the game against the Royals. It was a horrible call.

Quote:
The official scorer ruled that a hit?? What a fuckin joke. What is this little league?? Put the ball in play and get a hit!

So Avilas goes spikes high into Beckham and in his next AB Beckham hits a bomb. Very nice. I'd still like to see Avilas eat one before this game is over.

Teams appeal these error vs hit/earned vs unearned run calls all the time, usually to help out a trade-bait pitcher's numbers. As the Cubs did in 2006 before dealing Maddux:

Quote:
MIAMI (AP) -- An official scoring change eight weeks after the original ruling lowered Chicago Cubs right-hander Greg Maddux's ERA by more than a third of a point.

Scorer Ron Jernick said he made the change this week after the Cubs appealed the May 24 ruling to Major League Baseball, which asked him to review the decision.

"It could have gone either way," Jernick said Wednesday.

Because of the change, Maddux was charged with one earned run instead of six in the game against the Florida Marlins, lowering his ERA to 4.60 from 4.99.

The ruling involved a play in the fifth inning. With two out and none on, Florida's Hanley Ramirez beat shortstop Ronny Cedeno's one-hop throw from the hole.

Ramirez was credited with a single, and the Marlins went on to score five runs off Maddux. With the ruling change, Jernick took away the hit and gave Cedeno an error, making the runs unearned.

although I think Sierra is a mental clone of De Aza he has been a pretty good pickup for this team.
