I'm sure you're right. It was probably a conspiracy by the Chicago media, who we all know to be pro-Sox, to lie about the 1.7 million. Great detective work Teelander.
On the other hand, maybe it's just another post in the Sox forum from a Cub fan who supposedly doesn't care about the Sox or anything Sox-related, yet feels the need to obsess about them to the point of denying the parade stats. It's always attendance with you guys isn't it.

By all accounts, it was the greatest celebration in the City of Chicago's history. Think about that . . .

It is hard to estimate people, but I feel solid in making an estimate about one person: Doug = Pussy. They should kick you out of Evergreen Park.

Agree they estimated it along the entire route, but the Media did constantly report 1.7 mill people , like they are all on LaSalle.

I agree it is hard to estimate, but 1.7 would not have been fun, because about half would never even been close to seeing anything, maybe 1.695, but never 1.7

If I was a Sox fan though, I could care less who came out. Actually if I was a Sox fan and I was the only guy on LaSalle and the Sox came buy, that would be cool.

Seriousely, does anyone know what 1.7 million people would look like? Thats pretty much everyone in the CBD and River North! and I am 100% sure everyone wasn't there, I would say 5 people from my office of 60 people went.

My office is on the corner of Lasalle and Wacker, I could see the whole parade and podium crap outside my office and if there was more than 200,000 people I would be surprised,

but the Media felt the need to contiue to pump up the facts to make the Sox and their fans feel wanted.

1.7 million, no way, but if it makes you feel better fine.

Dipshits, the estimation is the number of people watching on the route from US Cellular Field all the way to the stage...not just the 6 blocks of Lasalle.

Let's ease up on the word "conspiracy". There is no conspiracy amongst media outlets. They aren't on a mission to build up the sox.

LMAO, a Cub fan talking about media bias. I'd like to see how popular and loveable would be if the 'Cubbies' weren't owned by the Tribune, so then major media outlets in Chicago, LA, NY, etc wouldn't have to worry about feeding readers excuses and kissing Cub ass

How are you going to act when 3 million pass the turnstyles next year?

HUH? The Cubs had 3,099,992 go through the turnstiles this year. I don't get your point.

I suspect that numapumaguy meant to say 3 million FANS through the turnstyles. Granted the Cubs had 3 million people. While I am not an expert at estimating crowd numbers like Teebagger, I come up with the following:

The Cubs had about 500,000 actual baseball fans come to the park last year. They also had:

About 300,000 geriatric hayseeds who were bussed in from Iowa and Nebraska.

About 800,000 yuppies who happen to live in Lincoln Park or Lakeview and have heard that going to Cubs games is a cool and trendy thing to do.

About 500,000 frat guys from mediocre midwestern universities who are at home with mommy and daddy for the summer and looking for a place where they can drink beer without too much attention being paid to their crappy fake id's.

And last but certainly not least, another 1,000,000 super cute fellas who have swished their way over from Halsted St., lured by the promise of sunshine, shirtless frat boys, and a 95 Million Dollar payroll that is unable to win even half of its games.

The point is that Cub fans are obsessed with attendance because that is their only argument towards relevancy. When that goes what will they have left? For the sake of Cubs fan's sanity, they'd better hope Fenway is torn down soon. That way they can then run all over saying how they have the oldest park. It's always anything but the real game. In reality, who can really blame them? Apparently, nintey-eight years of sucking dick (on and off the field) will do that to someone.

I realize that this may be hard for you to believe, but there are actually more than 1 of us out there that question the loyalty and baseball knowledge of most of the people that file into Wrigley Toilet every year.

If Carl Cream isn't The London Man, I am Joe Bartosch, or am I Joe Bartosch anyways?

Who cares if you are? Believe it or not, there are actually a lot of us that are not so obsessed with sports radio that we are constantly trying to identify potential on-air personalities. Get a life, you fucking loser.

Did you all really get that upset I questioned the vast majority of people who witnessed the Sox parade?

As long as we are debating the topic, am I to think that an addtional 1,000,000 people had lined the streets of Chinatown, 23rd and Archer and The Pilsen area to cheer to the Sox. That would allow for 700,000, which is 300,000 more than my original estimate.

Look at the Pictures on Mike North's website and see how many people gathered. Figure each street held about 10,000 people. So I guess 500,000 joined me at Corner Bakery for a Sandwich right after they waved at the Sox

Yeah, there really aren't that many Sox fans. How else do you explain merchandise flying off the shelves? Per yesterday's Sun-Times at a rate only behind only last year's Red Sox and the Yankees/Mets series.

For some reason LG hates BF, not sure why.

Note to LG: I am a Southside guy(McKinley Park-holla) and your ID is all over these posts. Just do what I do, "Did you win a World Series" and end of conversation.

He (London Gentlemen) doesn't hate me, he said so himself in a post at one time, he just doesn't conform to everything I say and he has his own opinions, lunike the rest of you unopinionated Sox fans that agree with all my statements and just do it to kiss my ass so you can, hmmm, well, when I find a reason for kissing my ass I will post it.

They should have ended the parade in our brand new $550 million dollar park for the people, instead of trying to cram everyone in to an intersection at LaSalle and Wacker.

Me too. It was perfect the way they did it. Much better than the Bulls circle jerks at Grant Park.

Of course I don't. I do however question your business saavy. Look at all the time you've wasted trying to make a few bucks selling Cub t-shirts and hats for what you've admitted is basically zero profit. Time to wake up and make your fortune. In case you haven't heard, Cub fans are clamoring for used toliet seats. The latest word is that they don't even have to be autographed by the Cubs, they just have to be heavily used and from a men's room. Shit stains are probably a plus, you decide.
