Trolling: a hobby for the mentally unstable.
are you calling Tom Tango's coauthor a troll?
Here's the thing about the way most people "use" SABRmetrics. If RPB and I started a baseball blog and called ourselves Bryan Bravo and Robert Romeo and we published an article that appeared to be scientific with enough charts, graphs, and diagrams that purported to be a study of bat rotation through the strikezone, guys like Len Kasper and dan bernstein would read it and start regurgitating that bullshit and spouting it like fact. And by the way, did you know that Kris Bryant has the most incredible bat rotation through the zone that we've ever seen?
Can I see the graph?
"The Book" by Tango is interesting especially his take on batting order optimization which it appears Joe Maddon is using.
BTW Tom's coauthor is none other then Andrew C. Dolphin.... at least now we know GD's first name ...please address him as Andrew from now on.
Well, as I said in another thread, Maddon is about as cutting edge as a manager can get without taking a whole lot of heat if shit breaks bad. I think Tango would probably have Rizzo leading off. That's just too damn radical right now.
Also, batting order optimization is all theoretical and based on modeling since we don't have real life examples to go on.
