#Cubs and #Mariners nearing trade involving Dan Vogelbach and Mike Montgomery. I am told other player(s) could be included in final deal.

Wouldn't think any of them would be terribly consequential.

Didn't realize the type of numbers Vogelbach was putting up in AAA. Guy was crushing it. Everyone is talking about Schwarber being an AL DH, this guy is definitely one. Mariners may have made a smart acquisition in the end.

I think it'll work out nicely for both teams ... it's fun to talk about Hendry fleecing people but at some point I'd figure you'd risk people not picking up the phone anymore.

One wonders if he was traded to be reliable relief now, and Jake's replacement (much) later.

They snuck in another guy who looks exactly like Schwarber with an equally Germanic last name

Source: #Cubs also getting Triple A starting pitcher from #Mariners in deal. Likely they are giving up more than Vogelbach.

Double A right-hander Paul Blackburn also heading from #Cubs to #Mariners.

I'm sure Blackburn was an awesome prospect until a few minutes ago

Trade doesn't do much for me. Vogelbach should have been saved for a deal with the Yanks.

I assume the AAA pitcher is Adrian Sampson since he is on the 60-day DL. Otherwise, I would guess the name of that pitcher would be known.

Get Chapman already.

Wankees get nothing then. Not from the Cubs at least. SMART.

Jordan Pries is the pitcher coming to the Cubs.

Still need one more guy.

I'm guessing Happ and one of Eloy or Gleybar and some other depth is gone by August 1st.

You don't seem to understand that there are other teams in the league. It's not Schwarber or nothing. Its Schwarber or some other comparably ranked prospect.

Almora and Patton to AAA. Fowler activated.

Didn't even know Patton was up.

get Almora down before he further damages his value.

He can still make his Jim Edmunds unnecessary dive catches in Iowa

From MLBTR:

Quote:
SUNDAY,11:03am: The Yankees are dissatisfied with the Nationals’ offers, who are behind at least three other teams (including a mystery club) in the Chapman derby, writes Heyman. Further, the remaining $5MM on Chapman’s contract could make it difficult for a team like the Indians to acquire him, as the Yankees are currently unwilling to eat any of that money.

Meanwhile, the Giants sense that the momentum is elsewhere in regards to Chapman, tweets Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News. The Yankees are giving the Giants “radio silence” and don’t like San Francisco’s farm system as much as other suitors’, adds Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.

8:38am: The Yankees have asked the Nationals, Cubs, Indians and a mystery team to submit their best and final offers for Chapman, an industry source told Ken Davidoff of the New York Post.

Yankees aren't used to selling. Throwing a hissy fit that teams aren't selling the farm for a reliever rental.

Compelling. I wonder what Chapman's rep as a teammate is.

Would be a major and needed upgrade.

I don't think he is any worse than Soler. They both seem a bit sketchy as far as personalities go.

I wonder if Yanks would do Gleyber Torres even up or the better question - what are Cubs offering given Chapman is a rental and Washington and others are pushing hard.
