OK, I looked back a few pages and unless I missed it (which I probably did) I couldn't find a thread about Fukadome
Not being a Cubs fan and not knowing much about him (as I'm sure most do), my question is what are your expectations and what kind of numbers do you think he'll put up?
he isnt hitting very well in the spring, but he has great patience at the plate. even if he hits .270-280, but can consistently take walks and have an OBP in the mid-to-upper .300's, that would be great. in spring training he is hitting .220 and has an OBP of .390. it seems like he is more than willing to do whatever it takes to get on base.
i think it is foolish to bat him 5th, after Lee and Ramirez. you got the guy because he is a great OBP table-setter type, yet he is going to bat 5th, AFTER the sluggers. soriano batting 2nd is a complete joke, i cant even believe they are going to do that, but it sounds like it that is what the buzz is.
