So don't buy a seat in the last row of the plane. Everyone but Southwest let's you pick your seats unless you buy one of those weird tickets where you save $15 by buying a mystery ticket where you don't know if you'll be sitting in the cargo hold or the main cabin.

99% of the problems with airlines are with people who want the cheapest ticket possible but somehow don't understand that it comes with a lack of comfort.

Pretty much. It's like going to Wal-Mart and buying the cheapest socks possible and then wondering why they aren't comfortable when you are wearing them. Maybe because sometimes the cheapest option sucks?

The ironic part is that I'm pretty tall and I actually am less comfortable when I recline on a flight. I don't think I've reclined on a flight in years. All it does is push my legs towards the seat in front of me. I still don't care if someone in front of me does it as long as they aren't a moron who thinks the faster you do it the more it reclines.

Other than my international flights back in the fall, I'm the same.

I don't really mind when the person in front of me reclines. As long as they aren't bouncing in their seat when I have my tray table down it, it's really no big deal. What I hate is when some fat ass is sitting behind me and the only way they can get themselves out of their seat is to pull themselves up using my seat. That is far more annoying and these people should be thrown out the exit door at 40,000 feet.

What's even worse is strangers in the same row as you that can't respect their personal space. Using your arm-rest, parts of their body extending into your seat area. I had a Phillipino pull this bullshit on me a few weeks ago. Mother fucker wanted to punch him in his goofy ass mouth.

Wendi Williams said that on Jan. 31, she took a flight on American Airlines subsidiary American Eagle from New Orleans to Charlotte, North Carolina. During the trip, when she first reclined her seat the man behind her asked tha she wait to do so until he was done eating.

She accommodated the man and then reclined the seat after he was done, according to Fox News story. However, she said the man reacted by repeatedly punching the back of her seat, which she captured on video.
NO to CHA can't be more than about an hour flight.

I won't repeatedly punch the back of the seat but I'll do the passive aggressive accidental pull back so you get whiplashed both back and then forward. Sorry, you shouldn't have bought the seat in front of the guy who buys the cheap seat.

The Delta CEO is actually a well spoken, thoughtful guy. He is on CNBC all the time including this morning. He also announced $1.6B in employee profit sharing today. They are trying to equip all planes with free wifi too.

As someone who worked on the Delta account for years and met with top management at their headquarters, this guy is way better than anyone I ever spoke to.

When i worked at O'Hare in the previous century, Delta was always voted best in customer service.

They seem to have re-discovered that people like to be treated well, and not like cattle.

I might have to ditch Southworst and try Delta. I wish Delta would consider free bags.

Delta’s just not a legit option for Chicagoans. You have to choose American or United if you fly out of ORD and Southwest if you use Midway. United is by far the worst, so I aggregate on American. They have done a nice job of upgrading their fleet, which was bad just a few years back. Their staff is much better than United.

They have one of the best credit cards in the industry as well.

I don't have their card because they do not fly direct to MANY of my regular cities.

Delta is my favorite airline by a good margin.

Totally agree.

United is awful.

I'm sure they offer MANY non-stop flights to one of the MANY airfields in California.

yep. There is almost zero additional comfort provided by that modest recline. You can sit and sleep just as well in the upright postion.

That said, the seat does recline so you have a right to take advantage of it. I also have a right to use the portion of the seat designed for my comfort as a slingshot when I arise and if it launches your head into the seat in front of you, well, that's a design flaw you can bring up with the airlines.

I cannot remember when it changed from animals all being in storage to some people being allowed to bring them into the human seating but that really needs to stop.

As a taller guy (6'4"), I can confirm that reclining the seat absolutely affects the knees of a person behind you, especially someone who is taller than average. That said, I always know what I am getting in to and agree with your point that if it bothers me that bad that I should spend more for better seats, and I choose not to. I have had lots of uncomfortable flights with people reclining into me and have never had any kind of incident over it. If I had a flight longer than my typical 2 - 2.5 hours I usually take id probably upgrade but for a quick flight east its fine, whatever. I never recline either, because the seat backs aren't tall enough for my head to rest on anyway so there is no benefit to it. If there were a change to be made to design of plane seats, an additional 4" of height to the seat backs would be appreciated.

The truth behind all of this is that flying used to be a luxury. It is now something to be endured.

and COVID seems to have made flying available to the lowest strata of american narcissist

the experience sucks from the moment those doors to the terminal swing open

GTFO with this reasonable take. The only acceptable answer is that you stab the reclining jerk in front if you with a nail file.
