My brother and I scalped (racist) dugout seats for that first Nomar game. Maddux was on the mound going for 300 that same game. The tix were $300+/each (we weren't actually in the dugout, slightly behind).
I think Nomar got one hit, Maddux didn't get the win, and the Cubs still won late in non-historic fashion.
I didn't even get a Nomar selfie despite the fact that I met him and had a short conversation before the game because I don't think selfies existed at that point in the human existence.
Just a microcosm of the 2004 Cub experience for me.
Was that Nomar game part of a double header? Thought it was, vs Marlins. Think Wood pitched one game and can't remember other vs the marlins. Maybe it was the same series. Took the train in to see the games and sat behind Marlins bullpen. Game two starter got lit up ad the whole time he was warming up the pitching coach was shaking his head. After he went in the bullpen coach told the fans that it might be a short outing, It was.
Nevermind. My memory remembers the games right but they were in September. Split double header. That was a long flipping time ago. And it was Prior in the nightcap. Probably was first game I saw with Nomar (Perhaps last as well) which is where my mind was probably thinking first game after trade.
