Somebody called this months ago (EG Greg IIRC?), but I can't find the post.

from chicagosports.com

Guillen and pitching coach Don Cooper met with Jenks after Saturday's game against the Cubs and told their 24-year-old closer to work harder and that he would be under more scrutiny.

"One of the reasons we used Cotts in the last inning is just in case [Jenks' woes continue]," Guillen said. "I'm not the type of manager who says 'You are my closer.' You are my closer by my gut feeling."

Cotts pitched a perfect ninth, but Guillen said Jenks would keep his job as long as he threw strikes.

In his last four appearances, Jenks has allowed seven runs on eight hits with six walks. Jenks displayed better control Wednesday, walking one, but he has walked six in the four games and is aware Guillen has Cotts as an option.

I would eventually like to see Cotts get a shot at being a starter.

Earlier in the spring Ozzie said he does not like to have any one person as a closer. This is just spring training BS.

I would have to imagine it would take quite a bit for Jenks to be replaced as closer. However, Ozzie doesn't really follow anything "by the book".

I agree. Cotts should get a chance as a starter. I thought Ozzie's first year as manager Cotts would be groomed in the bull pen and then start the following year. The problem now is that he will never break our rotation. I wonder if Cotts is pissed that he can't get a shot. After all that is where the real money is. I think he might get lossed in the shuffle with us and never get a chance. He is still a couple years from free agency. Oh well these are good problems to have for Sox fans. LOL
