Is it unreasonable to think the Bears can make a deep playoff run this season?

That's fine. I think this Bears team can make a deep playoff run. I don't think the Packers are as good as MANY believe and the Lions will have a tough schedule.

I'm shocked at the amount of l(L)ove the Packers get nationally, as a team that slipped into the playoffs on the last day of the season.

The North is going to be a good division but I think the Bears can be as good as any of them. I don't really like our defense as much as others do. I still think we are below average across the defensive line, which is far more important than being good at LB and secondary. This offense though, is going to be high octane

The Bears were easily a playoff team last year with competent QB play. They upgraded the whole offense.

Williams is going to throw a lot of interceptions though. That is the biggest risk factor.

He's never thrown a lot of interceptions in his life. There's no reason to expect he will now. Fumbling could be an issue, but I suspect he'll fix that tendency.

I may be drinking the Kool Aid, but if he simply reads his progressions, there will be a player open every single play with this skills group they now have. He is considered good at looking at progressions.

I think LeFloor may be the best coach in the division, but I think that team has been overrated by the media. I also think the Lions are ready to Lions. They aren't sneaking up on anyone this season and they have a tough schedule.

I have more questions about our defense than I do about our offense. That said, having an offense that can score points should take a lot of pressure off of our defense. I would bet the Bears to win the division.

That's just silly, Caleb Williams typically fumbles the ball away before he has any chance to throw interceptions.

NFC is gettable tho. Other than SF, no other dominant team. And McCaffrey due for a season-ending injury that takes him out of the playoffs.

I agree. A lot of his fumbles came from a shit o-line, shit receivers, shit play calling, and the need to play hero ball because of a shit defense. He won't need to do that this season.

That isn't how it actually works in the NFL.

Defenses are often geared to stop some plays.

He played in the Pac 12 where that was rarely the case.

His pre snap reads will be more difficult, and far better disguised than anything that he has seen previously.

Number of times Miller Moss playing behind the same o-line in the same offense fumbled last season:

0

and that was a against a borderline top 10 in nation defense. Louisville defense ranked ahead of C-Will's nemesis Utah going into the game, which is probably why Moss and USC were 7 point dogs.

After Moss put 6 TD's and 42 on Louisville's vaunted defense, all without fumbling the rock away, Louisville of course fell down about 10 spots.

Bonus, Moss's mom does not paint his nails (as far as anyone knows) and kinda hot:

I think he is going to be aggressive. Most, but not all, rookie QBs struggle with turning the ball over. I don't think he's going to throw 30 interceptions but it wouldn't shock me if he was near the league lead.

I think a lot of top rookie quarterbacks struggle because they didn't have a lot of game experience in college, and they played with elite talent around them in college. Coming to the NFL and playing behind a shit offensive line and with shit weapons can be a shock to the system.

Caleb's best WR was drafted in the 7th round. It's likely because he was the bastard son of an absent father who happens to be the greatest WR of all time. Caleb also played his entire college career behind a shit line. That's why I think his adjustment to the NFL will be easier than most. It's similar to my guy Brock Purdy making the adjustment. Both joined situations that were more ideal than anything they experienced in college.

Not having a good offensive line in both pass blocking and run blocking will hurt Williams . He is not the athlete than Fields is and this brings up sacks and turnovers.

Just how long is the list of teams that made deep playoff runs with rookie qb's?

Williams can actually throw the ball though. No more celebrating when the Bears QB reaches 200 yards in a game!

We got the best QB prospect since Luck, and a receiver who's comp is Larry Fitzgerald. Meanwhile the Packers drafted Charles Leno. I'm fucking pumped for the season!

Make the playoffs as a 4 or 6 seed? maybe. Win two playoff games to have a "deep playoff run?" Nah.

Would you agree that he has offensive talent that's comparable to or better than the talent that Purdy, Herbert, and Luck had as rookies? Two of those quarterbacks made the playoffs, and one likely wins the Super Bowl if his arm doesn't fall off.

As I said earlier, I think Purdy and Caleb played with similar shit talent in college. That prepared them for the NFL better than most accomplished college quarterbacks.

They won 7 games last year with horrible QB play overall.
And they blew a 10+ point 4th quarter lead three different games.

9-10 wins with one playoff win should be the floor this season.
