He's had some horrifically bad games this year. The first two were easy to excuse. The last 3 games prior to the Packers were really bad too. That's obviously concerning.

However, and I've been consistent on this even when Fields was a rookie, it doesn't really matter that much this year. Rookie stats for quarterbacks aren't predicative of much. Even rookie hero CJ Stroud is having a much worse season so far in year 2 though I think he'll be good long term.

OK right but where is he ranking now??

Because what you’re saying is that he’s basically guaranteed 100% to be better than fifteen guys around the league. I pull up the QBR rankings (not a perfect metric, but illustrative just to give a big picture around the league) and I’m not sure I really see any future he’s better than most of the guys on that list. And that’s not counting all the rookies from his own draft class who look better than him, nor the guys from next year’s draft class that will inevitably. look better than him. Or even prior drafted guys like JJ McCarthy or Micheal Penix who won’t have to perform particularly well to look better than Williams.

He’s in the pile with Anthony Richardson and Bryce Young. The same pile Justin Fields and Kenny Pickett were in last year. Like Zach Wilson, Sam Darnold, Mitch (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky before them. That’s the trajectory, and it’s not even really debatable. To say with certainty that he will play better than Kirk Cousins, Justin Herbert and Jared Goff have played this year just doesn’t seem grounded in reality. Not at all.

It's a prediction. You are free to make your own. We'll see who is closer to correct next year. Though, I think you have him being benched for poor performance next year and his Bears career ending fairly quickly after that.

He sucks, but all bets are off on how the Bears handle this particular quarterback who sucks. He’s such a DEI jackpot that George might make sure he sticks around and gets a veteran contract. The Giants did it for Daniel Jones, I won’t rule out the Bears doing the same.

Since you seem fixated on me saying he'll be a league average starter next year, then feel free to say where you think he will land on the same scale next year.

Bottom third. It gets to be a bit mushy at that level, he could be anything from worst overall to somewhere around twentieth. But he’ll be a distinct tier below the mid guys.

Wow. So a difference of possibly 5 starting QBs between us. I now see why you keep on bringing it up.

To be fair, you said definitely top 15 and more likely top 10. That’s a pretty big jump.

Didn't Brick say that Caleb would be better as a Bears rookie than was Justin? A point you immediately made a strawman of?

So we’re just ending sentences with prepositions these days? John Dryden must be rolling in his grave.

Link?

All I see is me saying after game 5 with how he is playing he would project to a borderline top ten QB but that's not a prediction.

It's rather cute how one lie begets another lie and another lie and another lie with these 2

JLN has obvious mental health issues, and Brick is more than happy to be an unabashed enabler even as he knows that he has said issues.

Oh yeah I forgot. The accompanying Gaslighting is always soon to follow.

Fact of the matter is this Brick McCarver. JLN has obvious mental health issues. With each and every example of your supporting his lunacy, irs starting to become apparent that so do you.

See again with all of the lying which guys like you and JLN do around here, it's IMPOSSIBLE to have the sort of conversation that "normal" people have. The "fairly quickly" comment had nothing to do with each as a Rookie. That is until Caleb began to suck of course. Then it became all about his being a Rookie.

Yes it was. You're just trying to "steer" the conversation where YOU believe that the conversation should go. By way of inane "questioning" as usual. The reason that you trade the pick is so that you can acquire players at "need" positions. I don't believe that the Bears QB spot is a "need" position. I also don't believe that Williams will be all that good. And yes I do think that Justin Fields is the better player. That is why it isn't a tough decision to trade the pick.

Again, I didn't even remember that "fairly quickly" was about him being better as a rookie. That's because it was a quick comment that I didn't think was a big deal. You kept on bringing it up which led me to have to look it up and I realized that I was actually already correct and so did you.

More Brick lying.  This statement was made during the very same conversation. It's clear that it had nothing to do with their respective careers as Rookies.

Mully and Haugh made it seem like the NFL admitted there was a penalty on the FG block. Leverage probably. Doesn't matter in the record.

The funny thing is, and I didn't remember this, but when I found that initial post we were discussing Fields as a rookie and Williams as a rookie. Williams, even with his struggles, has been better than Fields as a rookie. So, it's very possible the thing you are harping on and making things up about I'm actually already correct on.

Nothing in your comment pertained to their careers as Rookies.

I get why you'd want to shift the focus on a stupid comment McCarver, however it's not going to fly. Either provide evidence from the actual conversation that we were discussing rookie seasons, or else you're lying. And how can it be about the Rookie Seasons of each when you later claimed that for you "Fairly Clearly" meant year 2? Just Asking A Question

I'm going to do something like that when you already confirmed I was talking about rookie years.

Honestly, I didn't even remember most of the discussion. You kept on bringing it up which forced me to go look at what it was about and it turns out I was already right which was a nice surprise.

Williams will be a better quarterback in year 2 than Fields is in year 5. I hope this settles things.
