Cowherd is saying Jags are leaking interest in Jeanty to induce a team to move up.
He said 2 NFC teams want to move up but won't name the teams but he is implying the Bears are one of them.

When have they ever done the right thing on draft day?

This is vintage Bears. Everyone susses out their plans in January or February (if not earlier) and then a whole bunch of bullshit happens to try and throw people off the scent before they go and do what everyone knew they would.

Why is everyone passing on Sanders? He's an elite talent that can be had with a middle to late first round pick. He may end up failing but like half of all first round QBs are failures. People have traded up for far worse QBs than Sanders. I'm guessing it may just be no one wants to admit they are going to draft him.

CALEB RUINED THE MARKET FOR "GENERATIONAL TALENTS."

This is vintage Ryan Pace, not Ryan Poles.
This is pre-draft bullshit if I've ever seen it. The bears may do something royally stupid on draft day, but it won't be this.

Hopefully with Ben Johnson here the Bears have finally figured out that every team just throws a bunch of bullshit out there to throw everyone else off.
God I hope this is just the new MO and they don’t actually do something that stupid.

Yeah, until Ben Johnson does something royally stupid he gets the benefit of the doubt. The Bears O-line isn't top tier, but after Ben Johnson arrived they made clear improvements, which leads me to believe he has wrestled away some of the authority on personnel and roster.

We will see what happens over the next few days.

I'm going to be very disappointed if we take jeanty. More so if we burn additional draft capital to do so.

Just take a lineman at 10

I’m fine with Jeanty. No burning through picks

Do we trade away picks more than the average or does it just seem that way

Is it good that the Bears GM is in his 4th year and there is a general fear of what he's going to do tonight?

Poles first round picks:

- Wright: relatively safe pick
- Williams: obvious 1/1…safest choice in that spot
- Rome: wanted to get dumb and trade up (allegedly), but not really a reach at 9

I think he plays it safe again and goes with Banks if he’s still around.

Williams wasn't the "obvious" 1/1. Many "experts" had Maye, Daniels and Williams rated pretty similarly. Poles had two years to pick a QB, and he missed...by a lot.

of course there were some outliers, but by and large Caleb Williams was the consensus #1 pick.

MANY wanted Caleb and Rome last year and MANY celebrated the picks. Poles did the safe thing and chose who MANY wanted.

This year he will not do the safe thing and do what Ben wants and that is probably Jeanty at 10. I am ok with this as long as he doesn't trade up to get him. Prefer a OL/DL pick at 10 or a trade down for more draft capital but something tells me Johnson's Johnson is errect for Jeanty.

If that is true, they may have to trade up for him. I have read several scenarios that indicate Jeanty is going inside the top-10. I think he would be a great pick for the Bears, and worth going and getting.

Don't trade up for a position that isn't valued highly in the draft. If he drops to the Bears then take him.

I generally agree with that. It sounds to me that there are a couple teams he would have to get through.

Then you pass and worry about the best player available when your pick is up

The people I trust that watch tape on all these guys say Banks is terrible, lives on the ground and the Texas scheme was constantly giving him help. Plus Larry likes him, an obvious kiss of death.

The point, though, is that most experts didn't see Williams as significantly better than Maye or Daniels. Further, they often ranked Williams ahead of the other two based on his 2022 season and assumptions that his 2023 season was undermined by poor receivers and a lackluster offensive line. The consensus opinion, in other words, was based on the same kind of excuse-making and wishful thinking used to overestimate Justin Fields' ability during his first couple of years in Chicago.

That’s completely revisionist.
